Stress and anxiety get the best of it of us sometimes. Mindfulness breathing skills can help us to regulate the ways our nervous system affect daily functioning. I created a video to introduce a skill I’m calling star breathing. Picture a 5-pointer star. The skill is easy to learn. Inhale to the count of 5 and exhale to the same count. The intention of this practice is to become more aware of our breath and our bodies. We begin to ground ourselves in the body and shape our relationship with stressful or difficult events.
I am trying something different from what I am used to. I created the following video and worksheet to teach a breathing skill I’ve called star breathing.
Teaching have always been near and dear to my heart. But video recording took a few takes to get to this final product. My hope is to develop more resources for coping tools for emotions regulation, distress tolerance, stress, management, and many more topics.
